Frequently Asked Questions

Can hemp be beneficial?

Check out the “Resources” section of this website for more details, but the quick answer is “yes”. Hemp, and CBD from hemp, has been shown to have beneficial properties related to seizure disorders, anxiety, and many, many other conditions.

What is Lexaria Hemp Corp’s Structure?

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the principle psychoactive ingredient in cannabis that produces a psychoactive reaction. In the USA, our Lexaria Energy and ViPovaTM brand products DO NOT contain THC other than tiny trace amounts that have no measurable effects.

Lexaria prides itself in its testing process to ensure that our products are always within regulatory limits when it comes to THC content. Many countries around the world – and states within America – are using a range between 0.1% and 0.3% THC as the upper limit for compliance with regulations.

THC in much higher concentrations – roughly 100x stronger – is generally sought after by both medical marijuana patients, and by users of recreational marijuana in such jurisdictions around the world where it is legal to consume.

Lexaria Hemp Corp was created in the summer of 2018 as a wholly-owned subsidiary to its parent company Lexaria Biosciences Corp, which is a publicly traded company in both the USA and Canada. Lexaria Hemp Corp. is focused on only the global hemp industry and has no other business interests.

How big is the global hemp industry?

It seems to depend upon how you ask the question and who is answering. In the US, CBD consumer product sales are expected to grow 1,000% from 2015 through 2022, according to Hemp Business Journal, to US$1,812 million. Many industry experts believe this is likely to be dramatically upgraded if contemplated US federal laws are passed that will be more accepting of the CBD-from-hemp industry. The Brightfield Group has forecast that hemp and CBD sales will reach $22 billion by 2022 with favorable US federal legislation.

How is Lexaria Hemp Corp different from the dozens of other hemp companies?

Lexaria Hemp Corp does not grow hemp; nor do we extract oils or byproducts from the hemp plant.  Instead we focus on the difficult “last mile” problem: how to maximize the absorption into the human bloodstream of a difficult-to-absorb set of molecules. Lexaria’s technology works with EVERY hemp extract that we’ve tested; it delivers more CBD regardless of which manufacturer we work with. We believe this means that whether it is a hemp extract, a capsule or pill, or even an FDA-regulated cannabidiol based drug – in every instance our tech helps deliver more of what the consumer is paying for.

How does Lexaria’s technology fit into the hemp sector?

Lexaria’s DehydraTECHTM technology is patent-granted in the USA and Australia for the delivery of hemp. It is patent-pending in over 40 other countries around the word. Lexaria Hemp Corp holds the exclusive global license from its parent company Lexaria Bioscience Corp, for commercial opportunities related to hemp delivery that utilizes DehyraTECH. Lexaria’s intellectual property is quite strong and includes composition of matter patents as well as process patents. As of September, 2018 there are over 50 Lexaria patents pending and an expectation that there will be more than 100 patents pending in 2019.
